Mechanisms of Action :
CHG elicits both bacteriostatic and bactericidal activities based on the concentration. The efficacy of CHG as a suitable agent against microbe lies in its ability to disrupt the microbial cell wall. As a result of which the ATP- nucleic acid leaks out. CHG interacts with phosphate group of microbial cells which in turn affects the osmotic equilibrium. Hence causing cell death.

Applications & Directions for Use:
Applications | Directions of Use |
Pre-surgical hand scrubbing by healthcare practitioners | Wet hands and forearms with water. Dispense 5 ml of XEPITM Scrub CHG and scrub thoroughly over palms and arms till elbows for 2 minutes to develop copious suds. Rinse under running water. Repeat twice and dry with sterile towel. |
Pre-surgical scrubbing at the operative site | Wet the shaved skin area with water. Apply sufficient amount of XEPITM Scrub CHG (1 ml is sufficient to cover an area of 20-30 sq.in) and scrub thoroughly for 2 minutes. Rinse off with sterile gauze. Paint the skin with SANMEDIN 5% and allow it to dry. |
