- Preparation: Ensure the patient’s teeth and surrounding area are prepared for the impression.
- Mixing Putty: Dispense equal lengths of both base and catalyst putty onto a mixing pad or a clean, disposable surface.
- Mixing Time: Immediately start mixing the base and catalyst putty together using gloved hands. Thoroughly knead and fold the putty until a uniform color is achieved. Ensure complete mixing within 30 seconds.
- Loading Tray: Once mixed, quickly load the putty onto the impression tray. Distribute the putty evenly across the tray to ensure full coverage of the impression area.
- Tray Placement: Seat the loaded tray firmly into the patient’s mouth, ensuring it covers all teeth requiring impression. Instruct the patient to bite down gently but firmly to create the impression.
- Working Time: Complete tray placement within the total working time of 1 minute and 30 seconds to ensure optimal results.
- Setting Time: Allow the putty to set in the oral cavity for approximately 3 minutes. Avoid any movement or disturbance during this time to prevent distortion of the impression.
- Removal: After the setting time has elapsed, carefully remove the impression tray from the patient’s mouth. Remove any excess material around the impression.
- Inspection: Inspect the impression for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all necessary details are captured.
